Spooky spider sugar cookies

  • 2¼ cup flour
  • ¼ cup of vegetable shortening
  • 1½ sticks of unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups of white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • For the frosting
  • 1 cup powder sugar
  • 1¼ tablespoons whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the vegetable shortening, softened butter, and sugar until you get a nice creamy consistency. Then mix in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Slowly mix in the flour mixture until you have a nice cookie dough.
  5. Roll 2 small teaspoons of dough together to make a ball and flatten on cookie sheet with back of a spatula. Place cookies 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes and enjoy!

  8. Mix together the ingredients in a bowl adding milk slowly until you get your desired consistency.
